No Roosevelt Island F Train Service From Manhattan This Weekend and Later This Month - RIOC To Provide Weekend Continuous Service from 12 to 7 PM on Both Trams and 24 Hour Tram Service

Received the following advisory from the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC):
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THERE WILL NOT BE ANY NORTHBOUND (QUEENSBOUND) F TRAIN SERVICE AT THE ROOSEVELT ISLAND STATION FOR THE WEEKENDS OF APRIL 9 - 11 and APRIL 23 - 25

RIOC will be providing 24-hour Tram service these weekends to minimize the inconvenience to Island residents.

There will be 2 Trams running continuously during the hours of 12 PM and 7 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

At all other times both Trams will run at 15 minute intervals.

Thank you for your cooperation....
Additional weekend F Train subway service disruption information available from the MTA.
...  For service to Roosevelt Island and 21 St-Queensbridge, take the  F to Roosevelt Av

and transfer to a Coney-Island bound F.

For service from 57 St, Lexington Av-63 St, Roosevelt Island and 21 St-Queensbridge,

take a Coney Island-bound  F to 47-50 Sts and transfer to a Jamaica-bound F .
Also, since the F Train will be running on the M line, you can take the F to 53rd and Lexington. Then walk to the Tram on 2 Ave and 60th Street thereby avoiding the longer subway trip into Queens and back to Roosevelt Island.

Kudos to RIOC for implementing 24 hour tram service during the F train service interruption. Glad to see RIOC responded in proper fashion.

I notice that once again, RIOC has failed to indicate that there will be any additional RED BUS service at certain peak periods on the weekend during the weekend service cut, AND whether they contacted the MTA to try to get a little more Q-102 service...

Now is the time for our new Bus Czar to show us what he can do -- but he will need the additional bus drivers and vehicles to do it...

Why do we need additional red bus service? Just because the tram runs more often we must insist on matching red buses? Sorry, but no. That's ridiculous. The MTA is not going to increase bus services.

Dear 10:18 am poster -- I am the 9:18 am poster you seem to be yelling at -- please lower your voice -- and get over yourself, please.

The reason why I asked about some additional Red Bus service during the time there is no Queens bound F train on Saturday and Sunday is to better accomodate the LARGE numbers of residents, visitors, employees and other folks coming from Manhattan on the Tram.

I said nothing about Red Buses MEETING the Tram -- they can barely do that now. But running an extra bus or two to accommodate more commuters -- RIOC can certainly do that.

Regarding the Q-102 -- frankly, the MTA does provide additional bus service and some shuttles when other subway service is disrupted -- we here on RI are no different than those other commuters -- especially the ones who work at Coler and Goldwater who make up the majority of 102 users. Frankly, if RIOC DOES NOT ASK, nor if the union representing those employees does not step up for them, then we will never get more service, even when we really need it.

Many of us have lived here long enough to know how to get stuff done here on the Island -- thru Tram shutdowns, subway torture and more...obviously you have not.

a) I think you need to check your hearing. In no way did yell at all. I was just wondering why an extra tram needs extra bus services but regular weekend MTA service does not. It's not like all of the sudden there are more people travelling.

b) The RIOC does not need to ask anything. The MTA offers shuttle services for their own outages. For some reason they did not think this is not needed for Roosevelt Island. And I agree with them.

c) I have been living on this island for probably as long or even longer than you, poster above. I went through the multi-month downtime after the tram was stranded. Through the overhaul of the tram. Guess what? I have absolutely no complains at all about how this is all being handled. It's people like you who think the RIOC needs to serve you the world in a golden platter. It's absurd.
