Despite the morning cold and rain, Saturday's Roosevelt Island Fall For Arts Festival was a fun time for all who participated.

Here are some scenes beginning with the iDig2Learn Daffodil planting

project in the rain at the Motorgate Atrium,

mural painters not letting the rain stop them,

and indoor crafts at Gallery RIVAA.

After the rain stopped during the afternoon, the Roosevelt Island Explorers built castles

 using cardboard boxes,

By The Mummers entertained

with song and dance,

delicious food from Daisy May's BBQ,

Hands only CPR training from Lynn Strong-Shinozaki,

a clown,

juggler,

Island Kids pumpkin carving,

crafts with the Roosevelt Island Day Nursery,

tips from Bike New York,

Kite flying at FDR Four Freedoms Park

and Chinese Qin performance & storytelling at Gallery RIVAA.

Good job by RIOC and all the other Roosevelt Island organizations putting together the Fall For Arts Festival this year and not letting Saturday's bad weather spoil the fun.

UPDATE 10/13 - Roosevelt Island resident George Khelashvili attended the Fall For Arts Festival with his family and shares video below adding:
This video features Colombian professional band "Folklore Urbano" who performed brilliantly at the Fall Festival Event. This band is becoming well known to the island community since they have been offering after school programs at P.S./I.S.217 where they teach kids Colombian culture (songs, dances, playing native instruments) on a very high level. In fact, our 5-year old daughter, Mariam (who is featured in the shared video) attended the program last semester and she, along with all the kids that participated, is absolutely in love with the band.

LOL. You've run out of arguments and resort to name-calling. You cannot rebut what I say and so dismiss it as not making sense.. That's a grade-school "counter-argument" unworthy of you.

It's crystal clear you cannot argue or refute my points or Yet's points: "Yes, businesses are in the business to make money BUT they also have a social responsibility, IMHO. It can never be all about the money without consideration of the human costs. Unfortunately, many people subscribe to this believe that money trumps everything. I am surprised that you, Frank, are one of them."

As far as your quoting yourself from three years ago, nothing in the quote refutes my allegation that there well could have been a less transparent reason for your taking a stand to only oppose Ferrara appointment if RIRA adapted all your positions on conflicts, which of course, you knew they would not. Thus, in effect, RIRA's "opposition" was nullified as far as you were concerned, as it was based on a double standard. You never got involved in the effort to oust Ferrara, and anything you wrote about Ferrara was linked to all prior complaints you had about on-going or previous conflicts - that were not exactly related to the Ferrara appointment. No-one accepted your thesis - and even if you opposed the Ferrara appointment, you never got involved with RIRA in opposing it, since RIRA's opposition I suppose wasn't principled enough for you.

You knew then as you know now that your recommendation that RIRA would never adopt all your positions on conflicts - since the heart of your thesis is that most of the key players in RIRA and RIOC are conflicted.

You knew that your complaints then just as your complaints now, would fall on deaf ears. Got that, Frank? For at least three years, no-one is interested in hearing your complaints about conflicts.

You knew it in 2011 and you know it now. Katz, Smith, Helstein and everyone else you say are hopelessly conflicted - none of them are going anywhere and none of them will accept your thesis.

That's why, in attaching such a condition - that your opposition to Ferrara was contingent upon RIRA accepting your overall position on conflicts, which you knew they would never accept, in effect meant that you never initially opposed the Ferrara appointment.

To repeat: The conditions you placed on opposing him "I recommend RIRA oppose the appointment but only RIRA accepts all of my positions on conflicts and so forth.." were non-starters and you knew it. Thus, as far as you were concerned, it made as much sense for RIRA to oppose the Ferraro appointment (unless it adopted all your positions) as it would for RIRA to oppose Smith's or Polivy's appointment. Of course you knew RIRA wouldn't oppose Smith's or Polivy's appointment - thus your opposition to Ferrara's appointment was a travesty.
