Roosevelt Island Red Bus Bunching At the Subway Station During This Morning's Rush Hour - Community Transportation Town Hall Meeting on Thursday June 16

Two Roosevelt Island northbound Red Buses bunched up at the Subway Station this morning at about 7:20 AM as the bus in the back waited for the front bus to exit and load passengers.

Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) President Leslie Torres most recent report to the community focused on improvements to the Red Bus operations and announced a Transportation Town Hall Meeting for June 17.

Rather than just blaming the bus schedules, RIOC should buy more busses and hire more drivers, something they haven't done to keep pace with population growth!

More buses and drivers will not solve any of the problems. Bunching is very hard to eradicate. It's really just a matter of scheduling and fixing whatever prevents the buses to leave on schedule. Also, the drivers should stop taking on more and more passengers as they run to the bus stop. Once the door is closed the door is closed. Staying on schedule is more important.

The red buses (and MTA's)can no longer perform their runs in a predictable manner due to the traffic on Main Street
which has become a bottle neck following RIOC's/PSD's failures to maintain the old regulations covering parking/double parking and the increase in deliveries to
stores in SouthTown not to mention that school buses make pickups and return on Main Street instead of at the top of the ramp at Motor-gate as originally envisioned.
