As Joe's friend says of Roosevelt Island fishing:
Fishing is something everyone should do and everyone enjoys. Even if you don't catch you can see from my face that I am having a wonderful time fishing.
Others enjoy fly fishing from Roosevelt Island's Lighthouse Park and

Less than an hour later I walked to the north end of Roosevelt Island, and into a scene as beautiful as any in La Mancha. I was in Lighthouse Park. The small park was named after a tall, narrow, stone structure that I knew was not an evil giant...

If only the folks fishing at the light house wouldn't use it as pissoir. Many are too lazy to walk down to the public restrooms at the egde of light house park and relieve themselves at the walls of the light house. Not a pleasant smell in the summer.

I certainly welcome those fishing, but in addition to the urine issue posted by another user, they do not pick up all their trash. Additionally, they leave their fishing rods against the railing, sticking halfway out into the walkway, leading me on several occasions to almost trip over the rods on my regular runs around the Island. It would be great if the fishers were more considerate of their surroundings and neighbors.

RIOC should consider charging Fishermen for a fishing permit on the Island to offset some of the expenses incurred by the Island having to clean up after them.
