Roosevelt Island Sportspark Pool Shut Down Because Lifeguards Quit And NY State Hiring Freeze Prevents New Hires But Will Open As Soon As Possible Says RIOC President - Swimmers Start Petition Asking Pool Reopen Without Delay

Reported last Friday that on the previous day:

... Roosevelt Island swimmers were disappointed to learn without any advance notice that the Sportspark Park is closing effective immediately....

In reply to my question asking reason for the Sportspark pool closing, a Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) spokesperson explained:

Now that we have entered the Fall season, we are reevaluating pool operations and are currently in a transition phase with staffing.

I followed up:

Does that mean the pool is closed because RIOC does not have enough staff to operate it?

Yesterday, I spoke with Acting RIOC President Shelton Haynes about the Sportspark pool closing and followed up today:

Based on our talk yesterday, I want to make sure info about pool is accurate. The pool was closed because of staffing shortages. 2 lifeguards quit and the State has imposed a hiring freeze that prevents RIOC from replacing the lifeguards at this time. Is that accurate? Is there any other reason the pool cannot open? Any idea when the pool will reopen?
Mr Haynes repled:

We did in fact lose two lifeguards the same week. RIOC will be hiring to replace those positions ASAP. Once we have adequate staffing and ensure they are properly trained. We will reopen the pool. Our goal is to open the pool ASAP.

Today, Sportspark pool users created an online petition asking RIOC to reopen the pool without delay.

You can sign the Petition here.

RIOC Announces Sportspark Pool Closing Immediately Yesterday With No Advance Notice - Roosevelt Island Swimmers Ask Why, RIOC Gives Vague Answer

The Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) pleased local swimmers when the Sportspark Pool reopened last August 10 after being closed since March due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

But yesterday, Roosevelt Island swimmers were disappointed to learn without any advance notice that the Sportspark Park is closing effective immediately.

RIOC announced yesterday evening :

Please be advised, the Sportspark pool, located at 250 Main Street, will be closed effective immediately, until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience. An update will be sent when the pool reopens.
According to a Sportspark swimmer:

Oh no! I’ve been counting on the pool now more than ever! And I’m sure I’m not the only one! Do you have any idea if this is a mechanical problem or pandemic/budget related, etc.?

I asked RIOC yesterday:

Why is the pool being closed?
 RIOC spokesperson Jessica Cerrone:replied today:

Now that we have entered the Fall season, we are reevaluating pool operations and are currently in a transition phase with staffing.
I followed up:
Does that mean the pool is closed because RIOC does not have enough staff to operate it?

Will update when more info received from RIOC.

Reopening Sportspark Pool After Several Months Covid Shutdown Lifts Spirits Of Roosevelt Island Swimmers - Among Best Swims Of My Life This Week Says Long Time Sportspark Pool User And Thanks RIOC For Safety Protocols

The Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) reopened the Sportspark Pool last Monday, August 10, which had been closed since March due to the Coronavirus Pandemic shutdown.

Roosevelt Island resident and long time Sportspark Pool swimmer Roberta Kleiman jumped right in the water and is thrilled to have the pool back open.

Ms Kleiman reports:
Over the past few months all of us have had to do without many things we most enjoy and rely upon. For me, without a doubt, that has been SWIMMING! I’m a lifelong swimmer and have swam at Sportspark Pool for most of the last 10 years.

This week, much to my utter delight RIOC reopened Sportspark Pool. I swam twice this week and those swims were definitely among the best swims of my life!

I would like to say a very big THANK YOU to all of those at RIOC who have made this happen! This is exactly what I, and I believe the swimmers in our community, have needed to lift our spirits! I truly feel that I am “back at home” at Sportspark Pool. I also am very pleased with the many safety protocols RIOC has put in place at the pool.

Thank you RIOC!!

Good New Year's News For Roosevelt Island Swimmers - Sportspark Pool Renovations Delayed To Later In 2020, Will Close Temporarily First Week Of 2020 But Reopen January 6

Earlier this month the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) announced plans to close the Sportspark Pool

beginning January 1 for renovations. Roosevelt Island Sportspark Pool swimmers were unhappy to learn that there were no other pools available during the time Sportspark Pool was closed unless they lived in one of the indoor building pools in Rivercross and Westview buildings.

A Roosevelt Island Tiptster reported last Saturday that the Sportspark Pool renovations were being delayed and would not close this winter for renovations. According to the Tipster:
... the pool will close on January 1 and re-open about a week later. The locker room renovations have been postponed until April.
I asked RIOC today about the status of the Sportspark Pool. RIOC Public Information Officer Terrence McCauley replied with good news for Roosevelt Island Sportspark swimmers:
After reviewing responses for the Requests for Proposals (RFP) it received for the planned Sportspark renovations, RIOC has made the determination to re-issue the RFP. This will delay closure due to renovations until later in 2020. Sportspark will remain open until then.

However, the east side (pool) of Sportspark will be temporarily closed from Wednesday, January 1, 2020 through Sunday, January 5, 2020 so that our staff may undertake extensive cleaning of that part of the facility. The west side (gym/multipurpose) will operate on a normal schedule throughout this time.

The Pool

The pool is now available for permitting from Monday, January 6, 2020 through Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Please contact Lt. Wanda Coleman or Stephanie Patino at PSD at 212-832-4545 for details.

Open Swim hours:

Monday – Friday 7AM – 11AM

Saturday – Sunday 12:00PM – 7:00PM

We thank you for your cooperation and apologize for any inconvenience.
More info on Sportspark Pool at the RIOC web site.

UPDATE  12/31 -  A Roosevelt Island Parent asked:
Does that mean the kids swim classes will continue?
RIOC Public Information Officer Terrence McCauley answers:
Since we do not know exactly when the facility will close for renovations, we will not be able to offer any swim classes at this time.

Roosevelt Island Sportspark Pool Closing For Renovations January 1, 2020 - Residents Ask If Any Alternatives For Roosevelt Island Pool Swimmers

A Tipster spotted this flyer announcing

that the Roosevelt Island  Sportspark Pool

will close January 1, 2020 for renovations.

As reported December 9:
According to the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC):
Phase 1 of Sportspark’s Renovation and Modernization Project will begin early 2020 and will focus on the pool wing of the facility. Improvements include a new HVAC system, new windows, interior renovations to meet ADA code, upgrades to the pool filtration system, lobby and locker room upgrades. These improvements will ensure that Sportspark remains an affordable, active and engaged resource to island residents.

As part of this renovation, the pool will be closed for public use. We did not accept any pool permit requests for the 2020 Spring and Summer seasons because we expect the pool to be closed for use through Fall 2020. A formal pool closure duration will be posted once the contractor is selected and a contract is executed. When it reopens, the pool will have new locker facilities, a modern dehumidification system, upgraded filtration system and new duct work that will allow staff greater control over the pool temperature and air quality.

As a reminder, RIOC has phased the work to minimize disruption of services to our patrons. During construction, the gymnasium and other west wing facilities will remain available for use. We appreciate your patience as we complete these necessary repairs.

We will provide the specific pool closure schedule later this month. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience during these necessary improvements.
I've asked the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC):
During Sportspark pool renovations closure, does RIOC have any plans to offer swim class programs at other pools on Roosevelt Island or elsewhere?

I’ve received several questions from residents asking.
Will update with any responses from RIOC.

Aging Roosevelt Island Sportpark Community Pool In Need Of Repair Says RIOC - Swimmers Say Water Temperature Too Cold For Some, Too Hot For Others, Can RIOC Find A Pool Water Temperature Compromise?

The Roosevelt Island Sportspark community pool is used by swimmers of all ages (infants to elderly),

abilities (beginners to masters) and purposes (competition training, laps, health, exercise and more).

As far back as 2014, some Sportspark users have sought a compromise on the appropriate water temperature for the multi-purpose Sportspark pool. The Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) responded in 2014 to Sportspark swimmers concern about the pool water temperature:
.... we have adjusted the Sportspark Pool temperature to remain at 83 degrees Farenheit. While the ideal temperature for swimming pools varies based on programming, this temperature is suitable for a wide range of activities and users (according to USA Swimming's guidelines for various aquatic activities). This temperature adjustment has been in effect for some time already and is frequently monitored for consistency.

Although no stable temperature will suit every user's needs perfectly, we will continue in our efforts to accommodate the widest range of swimmers and activities possible. As always, we appreciate the community's feedback regarding the pool and entire Sportspark facility....
In October 2018, RIOC President Susan Rosenthal noted:
... SPORTSPARK POOL

In recent weeks, we’ve received a few complaints that the pool water at Sportspark is too cold, although our goal is to keep the temperature in the vicinity of 84 degrees which sometimes fluctuates + or – 2 degrees. From our regular maintenance checks, we’ve determined that Sportspark’s recently-installed boiler is working fine, so we are continuously monitoring the temperatures and sensors and will work with the contractor (who installed the boiler) to determine how we can prevent future temperature fluctuations. We will provide an update once we’ve resolved the situation....

This summer, Sportspark swimmers have noticed colder pool water temperatures. In July, Sportspark swimmer Roberta Kleinman wrote to RIOC President Susan Rosenthal:
First, I would like to thank you and your staff for all that you do to keep Sportspark running. I would certainly imagine that keeping this aging facility running as smoothly as you do is no easy task! Thank you! I would also like to take this opportunity to commend the morning staff. The pool is opened consistently at 7am to a waiting crowd! The lifeguards greet us with a smile, and see to it that each of us has a safe and enjoyable swim. The recent introduction of slow, medium, and fast lanes has been a great addition.

Over the past 5 years, RIOC has repeatedly stated its commitment to keeping Sportspark at an average temperature of 84 degrees because it is a multi-purpose community pool. We all seem to agree that an average 84 degrees is a reasonable compromise for our multipurpose community pool. Consistent temperatures on either end of this range are uncomfortable if not dangerous for various groups of people. Children, babies, families, older swimmers and slower swimmers look for warmer temperatures, and faster swimmers seek cooler temperatures. A recent study by Cornell Tech students sites complaints about cold water temperatures.

I remain hopeful that temperatures will soon normalize, averaging 84 degrees!
A RIOC spokesperson replied:
As all of you know, the Sportspark facility is aging and in great need of repair. We do our best to maintain the pool water temperature between 80 - 84 degrees, but given the poor condition of the controls in the pool area, it is not possible for us to guarantee a consistent temperature of 84 degrees. We hope our planned improvements to the HVAC elements of Sportspark, particularly in the pool area, will allow us to provide more precise temperature control of the air and water.

We are monitoring the temperature in the pool area on a daily basis and will do our best to make sure the temperature is at the ideal level to accommodate all of the activities of all of our customers.

Our goal is to be done with all of the work sometime around mid-2020, depending on how much progress we make in our other improvements at the facility. In the meantime, we will do everything we can to try to keep the water temperature as comfortable as possible for all of our customers.

As you can see by the log our employees have kept from 7/23 – 7/28, the water temperature has been consistent.

Ms Kleinman follows up:
I’ve been swimming regularly at Sportspark for the past 10 years. Over this time period, there have been numerous rumors and agreements regarding the target pool temperature. For example, I’ve been told that the agreement between RIOC and the Marlins is 82.5 to 83.5 degrees. Also, I've repeatedly heard that RIOC’s directive is 83 degrees as the target temperature. These rumors have been floating around at the same time that RIOC has committed, in writing, to the goal temperature of 84 degrees. This difference in goal temperatures actually makes a huge difference.

Regardless of the potential validity of these rumors, over the course of the last 10 years the average temperature, in my experienced estimation, has been around 82/83. So perhaps actions speak louder than words.

I am deeply frustrated and disappointed that RIOC has failed to seek an average temperature for the entire community. The consistent range of 82/83 only serves those who seek colder water, and leaves out huge portions of the community who seek warmer water. Perhaps, in an effort to be reasonable, my error has been advocating for a compromise temperature of 84 degrees rather than seeking the even warmer water that I, and a large segment of the population (children, babies, seniors, families, slower swimmers, cold blooded individuals) actually prefer.

I still remain hopeful that RIOC will consider the needs of the entire community and seek a goal temperature of 84 degrees.
The US Water Fitness Association recommends these water temperatures for specific pool use.

Special Note:Because of varying water temperatures, and for the safety of participants, classes should vary depending on the water temperature. High aerobic activity in high temperature water can be dangerous.

It's important to remember that you can never keep everybody happy regarding water temperature. If a pool is used for just one of the above-mentioned programs, you do not have a problem. However, if your pool is used for a variety of aquatic programs, you have what we call a "multi-purpose pool." The water temperature at the average multi-purpose pool in the USA is 84 to 86 degrees.

Heat Wave Coming This Weekend Over 100 Degrees, NYC Extending Hours For Pools And Sprinklers - RIOC Closing Roosevelt Island Sportspark Park After 12 PM Saturday And Sunday, Why?

It's going to be brutally hot this weekend - temperatures over 100 degrees and heat index of 111 degrees.

NYC Mayor Bill deBlasio advises New Yorkers:
... So, today – the latest as of a short while ago from the National Weather Service – today, we’ll get to a high of 90 degrees, a heat index of up to 101 degrees, and that will be primarily up till 5:00 pm, when it will be at its hottest. We could see thunderstorms tonight – that might help for a period of time, but we're not sure about the details of that yet. Tomorrow – a temperature high predicted of 97 degrees, heat index of 111 degrees – again, with the worst period of being up through 5:00 PM tomorrow; Sunday – also high of 97 degrees, heat index of 110 degrees up to 5:00 pm. Some of you are probably learning about heat index – that’s the way it actually feels. It's not just the temperature outside, but when you add in the humidity, the full effect – it’s what you feel, it’s what your body is feeling. It's the equivalent – with cold weather – of wind-chill factor. So, what it's going to feel like tomorrow and Sunday is going to be upwards of 110 degrees – obviously, very extreme for the body. So, everyone has to be really careful and understand that this is a very unusual situation.

So, since that kind of heat can be dangerous, let's go into some of the things that we're advising people to do and some of the steps we're taking. First – number one, if at all possible, stay indoors Saturday and Sunday to the maximum extent possible and, specifically, stay out of the sun. If you do have to go outdoors, keep it to a minimum. But, if you go out, it's a big difference whether you're in the sun or not. You’re going to feel a lot better if you're not in the sun.

Now, we know for our parents – and I can say this as a parent myself – it’s hard to keep kids indoors that long, so there will be good places to go with your kids. All of the City parks, playgrounds will have – that have sprinklers, will have them on until dark. For the City pools – our Olympic-size pools and our intermediate pools will be open until 8:00 pm – that’s extended hours – tonight, Saturday night, Sunday, until 8:00 pm. We were able to extend our beach hours one hour to 7:00 pm. That was the maximum we could do while still ensuring that we had the lifeguards we needed and the safety conditions we needed. But we have added an extra hour today, tomorrow, Sunday at our beaches.
But due to the heat wave, the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC) has chosen to close the Sportspark Pool

  Image From RIOC

after 12 PM Saturday and Sunday.

According to RIOC:
Due to anticipated high levels of heat and humidity, the Sportspark Indoor Pool will be closed after 12:00PM on both Saturday, 7/20 and Sunday 7/21. We encourage anyone without air conditioning to visit the cooling center at 546 Main Street. For emergencies, please dial 911 or call PSD at 212-832-4545.
For those wishing to cool themselves down at a Roosevelt Island pool, there is the Manhattan Park pool

for those who are members or able to buy a day pass, as well as the Octagon, Rivercross and Westview pools for their building residents.

For everyone else, no pool for you after 12 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

I've asked RIOC for an explanation for closing Sportspark pool during this heat wave and will update when more info received.

UPDATE 6:15 PM - A RIOC spokesperson replied:
Please note the following explanation for tomorrow’s closure of the Sportspark pool. As you will see, there’s too much detail to include in an advisory. In short, we decided to close the pool for the health and safety of our customers and employees.
  1. Most city pools staying open late tomorrow are outdoor pools. Indoor pools have a different set of concerns in extreme heat conditions, especially at Sportspark.
  2. As you already know, Sportspark will be undergoing major renovations in the near future. Recent assessments of the facility’s aging HVAC system showed that several areas - including the pool area - lack adequate cooling systems. We have placed temporary cooling condensers throughout the building and will have a temporary solution for the pool area soon. Unfortunately, none of these measures will be ready in time for this weekend.
  3. The heat index tomorrow and Sunday are predicted to rise significantly after noon, causing the indoor humidity to soar. Industry average for indoor pool humidity levels are between 50 - 60%. Today, the pool humidity level was at 68% at an 85 degree indoor temperature. This condition will only get worse tomorrow as the outdoor temperature is expected to rise even higher. Chlorine becomes difficult to breathe in humid conditions, especially without a properly functioning dehumidification system or cooling system in place. Out of an abundance of caution, we decided to close the pool for the safety and health of our customers and employees.

Roosevelt Island Community Update From RIOC - Infrastructure Improvements Underway For Roads, Street Lights, Wireless Devices, Lighthouse Park Foot Bridges, Landscaping Upgrades & Sportspark Pool Temperature Fluctuations

According to the Roosevelt Island Operating Corp (RIOC):

Island’s Infrastructure Rebuild Gains More Momentum

ISLAND ROADS

Several critical areas of Roosevelt Island’s asphalt roads in need of repairs to cracks, potholes and collapsed drains are being addressed by our road contractor that has started milling work and will continue with paving, rolling and striping today, October 30 through Thursday, November 1, the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation said Tuesday.

The identified areas include West Road, by the MTA Subway Station; Main Street, by the Community Garden and The Octagon entrance; and the NYC Health + Hospitals/Coler loop. Four crosswalks, located on Main Street by the shops and Chapel of the Good Shepherd are to be restriped next week as well. The work is being performed by Rosemar Construction Company, of Long Island, N.Y, which specializes in a range of commercial, municipal/industrial and residential road work services.

LIGHT FIXTURES

Some 108 light-head fixtures on Roosevelt Island have been repaired and retro-fitted in the past 90 days including the replacement of old inefficient, incandescent light bulbs around the Island and at Sportspark pool with new LED bulbs and the rewiring of corroded electrical panels including at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd.

The new LED bulbs - which are activated by photoelectric sensors and timers - use less energy and last up to 50,000 hours as compared to the incandescent bulbs that used more  electricity and only had a light life of 10,000.

RIOC maintenance staff and Ral-Bar Electric of Long Island City, N.Y. have completed most of the work.

RIOC staff will also be applying identification stickers on each light fixture to help streamline the process of identifying which fixtures are out or experiencing problems in the future. If you see a light out, you now can simply tell us its number. That work is expected to be completed by the end of November.

(Pictured in the photos is Luis Fernandez, a member of RIOC’s Facilities Maintenance Department).

WIRELESS SMALL CELL ANTENNAS

Wireless device connectivity on Roosevelt Island is about to be vastly improved, and less congested, during the next few weeks.

Crown Castle International Corp., the nation’s largest provider of shared communications infrastructure, will be installing 22 unique small cell locations on the Island covering from north to south. The antennas and fiber-optic cable-based networking will provide coverage and capacity for up to four data/phone service carriers including Verizon

Small cells are important wireless infrastructure that increase capacity and connectivity for mobile devices. They are small, low-powered antennas that can be installed on light and utility poles, street signs, and even on rooftops. Crown Castle, under a 10-year licensing agreement, will be building and maintaining this fiber ring around Roosevelt Island to supply various locations with better connectivity.

As the Roosevelt Island community continues to grow, more residents, businesses, students and visitors are relying on wireless devices to connect to the Internet and communicate (more than 50 percent of all U.S. households rely only on wireless phones; and some 80 percent of all 911 calls are made from wireless devices). When too many people try to use their mobile devices, the network can become overloaded: calls drop or don’t connect.

Small cells, like the ones being installed around the Island, can and will relieve this wireless congestion.

LIGHTHOUSE PARK

Roosevelt Island’s Lighthouse Park will soon be receiving some direly needed repairs. RIOC recently announced it has hired an architectural firm to design renovations to the two pedestrian footbridges in the area, adjacent pavement work, park landscaping upgrades and the creation of a salt riparian habitat as part of a natural floodable landscape adjacent to the Lighthouse tower. The Lighthouse tower is now closed off to visitors until that work is completed by next Spring.

We will provide an update once we’ve resolved the situation.

If You See Something, or Have a Question About Something, That Needs Fixing

The Community Request Tracker system is a new feature on the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation’s website. The system allows RIOC to track and address maintenance, grounds and facilities issues submitted by Island residents, businesses and organizations.

For non-emergencies during the week and weekend, Island residents should not call the Island’s Public Safety Department (PSD) but rather submit a FIX IT ticket (click the link provided or go to the “Report A Problem” icon at the homepage of rioc.ny.gov,) and the request is immediately routed to the correct department.

If you need help navigating the system, call Alonza Robertson, RIOC’s public information officer at 212.832.4540.

Residents can report problems involving animal control, electrical, Island infrastructure, parks and recreation: dead trees, garbage, grass or landscaping; facility cleanliness, field damage and transportation: Red Bus service or the Tram.

Roosevelt Island Resident Says Westview Pool Sauna Taken Over With Roaches - Building Management Inspects Area, Says No Infestation And Employs Weekly Extermination Services

A Westview resident reported last Saturday:

I don’t know who to report to but I joined the Westview pool only to discover the sauna infested with roaches, completely taken over! When asked, I was told ; it’s common knowledge and in the men’s room also. I was told they can’t spray in the saunas because of toxic fumes.

The pool should be shut down until this infection is completely clear. It puts all Westview residents in jeopardy! Why is no one reporting? It’s a health hazard!...

I forwarded the message to Westview management. According to Westview Management:
Since receiving your email we immediately investigated the pool area, sauna and locker room - there is no infestation.

In fact, we had building staff inspect these areas on multiple occasions at multiple times and except for one inspection in the early morning when 1 roach was observed, no roaches were observed.

The super and I also frequently inspect the pool and related areas and have never observed a problem nor have we received other complaints. The building has weekly exterminating service and the pool area and sauna is treated as part of this service.

We will continue to monitor the pool and sauna area and we have also relayed the anonymous complaint to our exterminating company who will do a special treatment on the sauna.

The resident followed up yesterday:
Looks like they sprayed, a temporary fix! Found 3, dead or close to it.

Nice to have a pool and sauna in your building - as long as it is properly maintained.

Roosevelt Island Marlins Swim Team Finish Regular Season With Outstanding Performances At Junior Olympics Adding New Medals To Trophy Collection Reports Head Coach

Roosevelt Island Marlins

Head Coach Roman Sludnov shares these photos and reports:

RI Marlins Swim Team

Congratulations to all the swimmers who completed their regular season with an outstanding performance at the Junior Olympics hosted at the Nassau Aquatics Center on July 28-30. RI Marlins added three new medals to their annual trophy collection with Sophia Seliger

taking gold on the 200 breaststroke and Denys Mialkovskyi (pictured on right with Finn Olsen on left)

capturing two bronze medals on the 100 back and 100 fly. Taking into account the awards won during the winter Junior Olympics championship by another Roosevelt Island resident, Strahinja Maslo,

the Marlins brought home in total five bronze, one silver, and three gold medals.

These accomplishments have a special meaning for the team who had to train outside of their home pool for almost nine months due to the closure of Sportspark. Thank you to all the swimmers, their parents, administrators, and coaches who worked hard to make this result possible. The new season promises to be even more exciting as more Marlins will join our Champions in climbing to new heights in their athletic performances.
More information on the Roosevelt Island Marlins Swim Team available at their web site.

Resident Reviews Newly Re-Opened Roosevelt Island Sportspark Pool, Water Is Perfect She Says - Take Sportspark Facility Users Survey To Show Your Wishes For Programs And Classes

Roosevelt Island resident Suzy del Campo Perea reports on yesterday's first day re-opening of the Sportspark Facility Pool:

Here's the first child that swam in the re-opened Sportsark pool!

Image From Itziar Borja del Campo

The water is perfect!

The temperature was just right, extremely clean and not too many chemicals.

The pool deck looks semi-new with the fresh coat of paint, bleachers sanded and stained, tiles of the wall professionally clean, new lighting so it's brighter inside. Even the windows received a nice cleaning and light cones through them.

The floor of the pool is smooth, new black tiles and lane separators.

The only thing that contrast is the metal border which it looks old.

The locker rooms are exactly the same, nothing changed besides the soap dispenser that now is foam only (not useful for bathing).

I have put together this survey to get the Roosevelt Island residents needs and wishes about Sportspark Pool.

Also, the survey includes questions about adults classes and the opportunity to use the Basketball court to play Volleyball, Basketball, Kickball, soccer, tennis, jump rope or any other sport/class you can think of.

But most important it will show RIOC that the community wants to use the space that today is rented out to external profit organizations (like Zogs).
